Visitors Giving: Back to Nature

In spring/summer time the grass is greener and there’s a celebration of colour with daffodils and bluebells. At Lake District Hotels we want to help preserve our heritage, landscape and wildlife and are doing our best to reduce our effect on the environment by; installing biomass boilers, becoming energy efficient, recycling and reusing, reducing our carbon footprint through local purchasing and also encouraging guests to explore more on foot, bike or boat.

We have also teamed up with Nurture Lakeland, an organisation that inspires people to care for Cumbria’s natural environment through responsible tourism. With over 87 million visitors to our area every year and it does make an impact on our countryside, so we’re inviting our guests to make a big difference with very little effort.

Each of our hotels has a chosen charity project that’s close to their hearts, with the Skiddaw and Kings Arms Hotel supporting ’Fix the Fells’, the Lodore Falls and Borrowdale Hotel supporting the ‘Red Squirrels Conservation’ and the Inn on the Lake supporting ‘Ullswater Paths’. By supporting these particular projects we are giving our guests the chance to make a difference too, when you next leave an optional £1 donation can be made when you pay your bill, which will be donated to one of our Nurture Lakeland ‘Visitor Giving’ projects. Your £1 donation can make a huge difference.

Visitor Giving is a stunningly simple way of inviting voluntary donations from visitors who feel inspired to put something back into looking after the places they love. It’s a win-win situation, creating that feel-good factor that you are doing something great for a place which is close to your heart, whilst giving our wonderful environment the tender loving care and vital funding it needs for the future. Everyone benefits.

We’ve a natural playground for you and your family – not forgetting the dogs too, so make a date in your diary, we’d love to see you.
