Winter Solstice in the Lake DistrictCastlerigg Stone Circle, Keswick Cumbria
Sat, December 21st 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join Lake District Hotels on a guided walk from Keswick’s Market Square to Castlerigg Stone Circle to celebrate the magical Feast of Yule, on the shortest day of the year.
The celebration will begin once we reach the stone circle with the lighting of the log to symbolise the heat and light of the returning sun, as our druid, Daru McAleece carries out a Winter Solstice ritual and a short talk about the Castlerigg Stone Circle.
Afterwards guests can enjoy hot mulled wine, apple cider and mince pies with lashings of brandy cream, before making the descent back towards Keswick on a lantern lit walk.
With the winter solstice occurring only once a year in the northern hemisphere, this is a truly special celebration.
