Over the last few years, Lake District Hotels have raised just over £68,000 for the charities we have supported.
Each year we select a charity or community project close to our hearts and run a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year to support them.
Lake District Hotels are supporting Keswick Youth Centre Services (KYCS) as their Charity of the Year in 2024. KYCS is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people across the broader Keswick area, ensuring that the local community continues to thrive with sustainability in mind, and with its youth at centre stage.
The services offered ensure that Keswick’s youth have somewhere to go, something to do, and someone to talk to. Their goal is to help ‘every young person across the wider Keswick area to be the best version of themselves and to be happy with who they are’.
Our aim is to raise £5,000 to aid KYCS in their journey to find a permanent residence.
Over £7,500 was raised in aid of Jigsaw Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, a local organisation providing support to the families of children and young adults suffering from life limiting illnesses. They offer families respite support with personalised one-to-one care, simultaneously giving these children a second home filled with laughter and fun-filled activities to take part in.
Lake District Hotels raised a fantastic £10,000 for the British Red Cross in aid of the Turkey & Syria Earthquake appeal! Our Directors, Charles & Kit Graves, and Dani Hope, promised to match fund every pound donated to the online fundraising page, the £5,000 target was achieved in less than 48 hours! This money contributed to the rescues and support of victims in the devastating earthquake that reportedly took the lives of 21,000 people.
In just under a week, Lake District Hotels successfully raised £10,000 for the British Red Cross in support of Ukrainian refugees, helping to provide food, water, first aid, medicines, warm clothes, and shelter to those who needed it during this atrocious crisis. Our Group Directors, Charles, Kit & Dani, vowed to match any funds raised and consequently contributed a brilliant £5,000 to the cause.
Community spirit is at the heart of the Lake District Hotel’s ethos, which is why the Inn on the Lake made a substantial donation of £2,000 to Patterdale Primary School. This enabled the installation of a brand-new adventure frame and swing bars, bringing joy to the local school’s pupils during playtimes.
We raised over £9,000 to help with the refurbishment of Ashness Hut. Originally a chicken shed, Ashness Hut was donated to Keswick Scouts, along with the land which it sits just over 70 years ago, with the aim to provide a cost effective place to stay for former evacuees and other under privileged post war children.
We raised £30,141 for Keswick School to redevelop their food technology room to be a TV style Bake-off kitchen, making it more effective and engaging for the students, with the aim to encourage them to consider a career in hospitality and to eat healthier, live longer and live stronger.
We raised £11,426.27 for Blood Bikes Cumbria, who provide out-of-hours transport, 365 days of the year to transfer blood, drugs and other medical requirements between hospitals and blood transfusion banks.
A total of £8,276.63 was raised for Amy’s Care, a family run Community Interest Company which provides social clubs for older adults, day care specialising in dementia and dementia holidays.
