A FIRST LOOK at the newly renovated Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa

The Lake District Hotels Group has proudly unveiled the newly restyled Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, which reopened on the 8th March after an extensive two-month refurbishment project.

The hotel’s establishment dates back to 1870 when it was equally valued for its opulence and high-quality standards as in the present day. As the Graves family celebrate twenty years of ownership and multiple past refurbishments, the hotel has undergone a remarkable transformation to bring both its interior and exterior into harmony with the contemporary design ethos of its acclaimed Falls Spa building, which debuted in 2018.

Dani Hope, Lake District Hotels Director, has said “We recognised the need to evolve and enhance guest experience, aligning the entire hotel with the modern luxury and style exemplified by The Falls Spa. With the completion of this refurbishment, we’re excited to offer our guests an elevated level of comfort and sophistication that will satisfy the evolving tastes of the modern guest.”

The last two months have seen Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa undergo a partial closure whilst renovations, including a ground floor refurbishment and the installation of a new state-of-the-art kitchen, have taken place. Upon arrival, you will notice the beautifully reimagined hotel exterior with the addition of a new outdoor terrace, resurfaced driveway, cedar cladding and a wheelchair-accessible ramp installed at the front, enhancing both aesthetics and practicality.

The completion of the totally new state-of-the-art kitchen has been eagerly anticipated, representing a £600K+ investment to elevate the culinary experience for guests. Equipped with modern appliances and technology, including a dedicated banqueting section for weddings and events, the upgraded facilities promise a seamless dining experience while fostering an enhanced work environment for its employees.

The Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa’s enhancements will also see the transformation of the Lake View Restaurant into the ‘Falls Brasserie’, helmed by a talented new head chef. We are excited to unveil this new dining experience as we anticipate the imminent opening of Falls Brasserie.

The refurbishment has come with many challenges as can only be expected, but Mizu pan-Asian Restaurant and The Falls Spa (including its 18 bedrooms) has remained operational throughout, maintaining its reputation as a premier Lake District destination for indulgence and relaxation. We have seen no decline in footfall to either of these establishments, with an array of limited-edition spa days and Mizu’s brand-new menu being released, there has been plenty ongoing excitement to keep an influx of guests incoming.

The total investment in the project stands at £2.5 million, highlighting Lake District Hotels’ dedication to maintaining the highest standards of excellence across its six properties.

Dani Hope has said, “Looking ahead, Lake District Hotels remains steadfast in its commitment to ongoing investment and innovation, with plans to refurbish additional hotel bedrooms later this year. Just last year, we invested over £1.5 million into refurbishing the Borrowdale Hotel located further down the valley, the Kings Arms Hotel in the centre of Keswick and developed a new outdoor terrace at the Inn on the Lake on Ullswater. The feedback on those projects was tremendous, so we are excited to hear what guests have to say about the much-anticipated Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa overhaul.”
